UK College of Design hosts Fall 2024 Lecture Series

The University of Kentucky College of Design’s Fall 2024 Lecture Series offered a dynamic lineup of talks, exhibitions and workshops that explored the intersection of design, architecture and innovation. This semester’s events included insights from renowned professionals, interactive workshops and exhibitions that highlighted both emerging and established voices in the design world. Universal Design Certificate Interest Meeting

The School of Interiors is the academic home for the 12-hour Universal Design Certificate program, offered in partnership with UK's Human Development Institute.  Emphasizing access, equity, ease of use, and legibility, the principles of Universal Design directly relate to the design of environments across scale from product to interior to building to place. 

Sustainable Futures Design Lab

The Sustainable Futures Design Lab is a collective of scholars that meets regularly to discuss ongoing work, cultivate new collaborative projects, and to share resources to advance socially responsible creative scholarship in the region. We believe that sharing food and ideas in person builds meaningful connections that can lead to sustainable rewarding partnerships.  RSVP to Attend.

Slip Casting - Spring 2025 Elective

This Spring 2025 elective course explores the art and technique of slip casting, a ceramic process that involves pouring liquid clay (slip) into plaster molds to create precise, repeatable forms. 

Fabric-formed Casting Concrete Workshop

This workshop, led by Pooya Mohaghegh, will focus on fabric-formed concrete casting, providing students with hands-on experience in both digital design and physical fabrication.  Register Now

College of Design Fabricating Play - Spring 2025 Elective

Fabricating Play is a design build course focused on the design, development, fabrication, and assembly of an architectural installation. The course begins with individual investigations of material and form and then moves forward as a team to select the elements, aesthetics, forms, and methods to fabricate the final construction(s). 

Nike’s VP of Design Culture inspires UK students through collaboration and creativity

The University of Kentucky College of Design, College of Education and Gatton College of Business and Economics hosted Nike’s Vice President of Design Culture and Blue Ribbon Studio Ronnie Wright for a series of events across campus earlier this month.  

Critical Software Lab Lecture Series Catty Dan Zhang UT Knoxville

Catty Dan Zhang is an associate professor of architecture at University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is also the founder of Temporary Office, a practice that explores architecture and digital technology through the production of exhibitions, objects, drawings, animations, installations and writings.

Interiors students lead donation drive for hurricane-impacted NC communities

On October 19, 2024, second-year Interiors students Kat Pence and Noah Nolan headed to Swannanoa, North Carolina in a vehicle loaded to the brim with relief supplies for communities impacted by Hurricane Helene.
