The University of Kentucky invites the public to experience “Making Sense”, an end-of-year showcase highlighting the breadth, creativity and impact of student work across the programs housed within the Gray Design Building. The exhibition opens May 7 in the Gray Design Building and will remain on view through early September.

Bringing together work from both the College of Design and Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s Department of Landscape Architecture, “Making Sense” explores how design operates as both a process of understanding the world and a way of engaging with it.

Through projects that span architecture, interiors, product design and landscape architecture, the work on display asks: which senses do we privilege in design, and what new questions emerge when we engage others? Featuring student projects that investigate the material, tactile and sensory dimensions of design practice, the exhibition highlights design disciplines’ emphasis on experimentation, interdisciplinary thinking and hands-on learning.

An opening reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in the Gray Design Building. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the lot outside of the Gray Design Building beginning at 3:30 p.m.
