SoA sophomore selected as Gaines Fellow

The University of Kentucky Gaines Center for the Humanities announced the selection of 12 undergraduates as the newest class of Gaines Fellows, including one School of Architecture student. These students will join the prestigious Gaines Fellowship Program in the Humanities for the 2025-26 academic year.

UK Design, Engineering students create products for the future of healthcare and electric mobility

Advancing Kentucky Together: KayDee Pratt’s drive to design more

Virtual reality and shoes. Those are two things KayDee Pratt, a senior majoring in product design in the University of Kentucky College of Design, loves. Over the summer, she worked on two research projects — one focused on comparing product models in person versus in virtual reality, and the other focused on creating and designing shoes in virtual reality.

Mass Timber in Appalachia

The MG-CAFE Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, in partnership with the College of Design, invites you to attend the 2025 Mass Timber in Appalachia Conference. Taking place at the Gatton Student Center and Gray Design Building, the event highlights the growing recognition that mass timber serves as a cleaner, faster, and potentially more cost-effective alternative to traditional construction materials like steel and concrete.

Universal Design Certificate Interest Meeting

The School of Interiors serves as the academic home for the Universal Design Certificate, offered in partnership with UK's Human Development Institute.  Emphasizing access, equity, ease of use, and legibility, the principles of Universal Design directly relate to the design of environments across scale from product to interior to building to place.  An information session will be held for students throughout the College of Design who are eligible for this 12-credit hour certificate.

FoSI Sports Tech Summit

Join us for the Future of Sport Institute’s (FoSI) Sports Tech Summit, taking place Monday, March 3 in the Gray Design Building. The summit’s theme, “Sports Tech: Innovating for Performance and Experience,” will explore the transformative role of technology in shaping the future of sports.

Student registration is open on Handshake for the 2025 University of Kentucky Design Career Fair, happening 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 in the Gatton Student Center. 

Fall 2024 Dean's List Announced

Congratulations to the College of Design students that made the Dean's List in the fall 2024 semester. To make a Dean’s List in one of the UK colleges, an undergraduate student must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher and must have earned 12 credits or more in that semester, excluding credits earned in pass-fail classes.
