Heinrichs selected for 2026 WELD cohort
Johanna Heinrichs, associate professor in the University of Kentucky School of Architecture, has been selected for the university's 2026 WELD- Faculty and Staff Leadership Development cohort.
The WELD program, administered through the University of Kentucky Office for Faculty Advancement, is designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders in higher education. Participants are selected through a competitive process and engage in an eight-month curriculum that includes retreats, monthly seminars and collaborative learning focused on leadership development, strategic planning, budgeting and crisis management.
Heinrichs joins a cohort of approximately two dozen faculty and staff from across the university who will participate in the 2026 program.
Heinrichs has been a member of the College of Design faculty since 2017 and currently serves as director of international studies for the College of Design, where she works to expand global learning opportunities and foster international engagement across the college. Her research focuses on architectural history, with an emphasis on villa culture, domestic architecture and urbanism in Renaissance Venice and the Veneto.
Through participation in WELD, Heinrichs will collaborate with colleagues across campus, gaining new perspectives and tools to support leadership in higher education and contribute to the continued growth of the University of Kentucky.
