SoA, SoI Faculty to Present at 2025 ACSA Conference

Several University of Kentucky College of Design faculty members were selected to present their research at the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) Annual Conference in New Orleans March 20-22. The ACSA Annual Conference serves as the premier gathering of architectural faculty and researchers from across the country.

Critical Software Lab Lecture Series Catty Dan Zhang UT Knoxville

Catty Dan Zhang is an associate professor of architecture at University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is also the founder of Temporary Office, a practice that explores architecture and digital technology through the production of exhibitions, objects, drawings, animations, installations and writings.

Book Launch: Homing the Machine in Architecture

The Critical Software Lab is excited to celebrate the publication of a new book called “Homing the Machine in Architecture.” This edited collection is a series of conversations on the ways designers, practitioners, historians, and theorists orient themselves within the world of architectural digital fabrication. The lecture will feature a brief overview of the book and a discussion with editors Zach Cohen and Galo Canizares.

Critical Software Lab Lecture Series girlcomputer

The College of Design invites you to the first Critical Software Lab lecture of the semester on Friday, October 4 at 4pm in GDB 209. Samiha Meem will be giving a presentation called "girlcomputer" on her work. Meem's research explores how image, media infrastructures, and popular culture interfere with the representation, consumption, and production of architecture. She is currently the 2023-25 LeFevre Fellow at The Ohio State University.

Meakins and Chugh to present at Interior Design Educators Council Regional Symposium

School of Interiors faculty members Jennifer Meakins and Aanya Chugh will be part of a peer reviewed panel discussion at the Interior Design Educators Council Regional Symposium, scheduled for Oct. 31- Nov. 1, 2024. 

Hagins wins award for Best Visual Paper at Design Society conference

Carly Hagins, assistant professor in the Product Design program, recently attended the Design Society's Engineering and Product Design in Education (E&PDE) in Birmingham, United Kingdom, where she was awarded "Best Visual Paper" for her research paper Reading Visuals: Exploring the Use of AI in Qualitative Research Analysis.
