The College of Design invites you to the first Critical Software Lab lecture of the semester on Friday, October 4 at 4pm in GDB 209. Samiha Meem will be giving a presentation called "girlcomputer" on her work. Meem's research explores how image, media infrastructures, and popular culture interfere with the representation, consumption, and production of architecture. She is currently the 2023-25 LeFevre Fellow at The Ohio State University.

MuFu: Museum of the Future

Remembering the Future with Herb Greene in Kentucky

Architect and documentary film director Lila Cohen will present on Herb Greene's Organic Architecture legacy from his most iconic to lesser known works, highlighting what he built and taught during his 18 years in Kentucky during the 60's and 70's. 

Beatrice Galilee | The Future of Architecture

Beatrice Galilee is the founder of The World Around, a new platform for contemporary design and architecture. She is the author of Radical Architecture of the Future, published by Phaidon in 2021, and between 2014-2019 served as the first curator of contemporary architecture and design at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. In this lecture, Beatrice will present her work as a curator of new forms of architecture and will share the ways that designers today are exploring and creating solutions to the world’s most complex problems.

Francesco Bonami | Do Museums Need Art?

Art curator and author Francesco Bonami will give a lecture entitled "Do Museums Need Art" on Monday, November 6 at 2pm in Pence 209.

Thom Mayne

The School of Architecture welcomes Thom Mayne as the final lecturer of the Fall 2023 semester. The lecture is sponsored by the University of Kentucky College of Design, AIA Central Kentucky, and Brown + Kubican Structural Engineers.

Housing Now: A Panel Discussion

In its long history as a typology, the architecture of housing has never been as relevant as it is today. What new forms of architecture are needed to respond to the ever-changing challenges of housing? Three leading architects whose practices focus on housing will present work that spans a variety of contexts and design approaches. Following the presentations there will be a panel discussion and a Q&A with the audience.
