This fall, the College of Design has five student work-study research assistantship opportunities available. Interested undergraduate and graduate students should apply by August 30.

FWS Research Assistant

3D modeling and digital representation, including diagramming, plans/sections, and collage renderings. Interest and some experience in making things and working/testing a range of materials and techniques as well as sustainability and interactive spatial design. Hybrid, in-person and remote work.

FWS Research Assistant

Ideal candidates are studying design and interested in learning and engaging with the digital knitting machine as related to research and creative scholarship in textiles, soft goods, and spatial design. Skills needed include: academic research using library and journal resources as well as documentation of process, digital representation including diagramming and image editing, and exceptional internet research skills. Job is hybrid, in-person and remote work. 

FWS Research Assistant

Students will undertake the following supervised in support of presentation of the research at the ACSA Annual Meeting in March 2025 and installation of a Public Exhibition in late-Spring 2025: Review of academic and trade literature / compile annotated bibliography; Review of FEMA and housing policy; Identification, mapping, and analysis of social and physical data; Documentation of existing housing typologies and watersheds; Visualization of research content; Design and fabrication of Exhibition elements. Hybrid: in-person and remote work. 

FWS Research Assistant

Student researchers will support research related to engaged-design scholarship based in Appalachian Kentucky within a global network of research focusing on the shared design and planning challenges in post-mining communities. They will support research, production, and fabrication. Students will work on archiving and creating a digital space for public representation and dissemination of the work among other related supporting tasks. Hybrid: in-person and remote work. 

FWS Research Assistant

Assistance with representation and expansion on documentation of built design research work. This includes parametric modeling and 2D representation. Assistance with physical model and any potential exhibition setup including designinstallations. Hybrid: in-person and remote work.
