Provost IMPACT Award: Exploring Kentucky culture through language

Last fall, the University of Kentucky Office of the Provost announced the second cohort of the Institutional Multidisciplinary Paradigm to Accelerate Collaboration and Transformation (IMPACT) Awards winners. 

PRD, Engineering students create products for the future of healthcare and electric mobility

Students from the University of Kentucky College of Design's Department of Product Design and the Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering teamed up with UK HealthCare, and other industry professionals, to create innovative medical devices and products addressing critical challenges in other industries. 

SoA Senior to give Breathitt Lecture on relationship between social issues, architecture

Lucas Carlos de Lima, a University of Kentucky senior in the College of Design, will give the 30th annual Edward T. Breathitt Undergraduate Lectureship in the Humanities. Carlos de Lima’s lecture will explore the utopian architecture of Wenzel Hablik and Peirre Chareau and the relationship between social issues and architecture.

SoI faculty and students to present at inaugural KYnsHIP Conference

Two School of Interiors faculty members and nine SoI students were selected to present at the inaugural Kentucky Network for Supporting High Impact Practices (KYnsHIP) Conference on Friday, April 4, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the University of Kentucky Gatton Student Center.

SoA sophomore selected as Gaines Fellow

The University of Kentucky Gaines Center for the Humanities announced the selection of 12 undergraduates as the newest class of Gaines Fellows, including one School of Architecture student. These students will join the prestigious Gaines Fellowship Program in the Humanities for the 2025-26 academic year.

Eight CoD students to present research at NCUR

Seventy-one University of Kentucky students, including eight College of Design students, will present their research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), April 7-9 at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

Advancing Kentucky Together: KayDee Pratt’s drive to design more

Virtual reality and shoes. Those are two things KayDee Pratt, a senior majoring in product design in the University of Kentucky College of Design, loves. Over the summer, she worked on two research projects — one focused on comparing product models in person versus in virtual reality, and the other focused on creating and designing shoes in virtual reality.

Window Repair Workshop at Shaker Village

The Department of Historic Preservation is holding a work weekend at Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, one of Kentucky's best known National Historic Landmarks. In this workshop, students will sand, prime, and learn how to reglaze historic wooden windows.

The University of Kentucky community is invited to experience research and creative scholarship in a new and interactive way through Inside the Lab: Works in Progress, an event series showcasing innovative, transdisciplinary work happening across campus. Hosted by the Sustainable Futures Design Lab and supported by the Research Leadership Academy and the Office of the Vice President for Research, this series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the workspaces of researchers, designers, artists and scholars engaged in groundbreaking projects.
