The Troublesome Creek Stringed Instrument Company makes some of the world’s finest guitars.  It also provides a path forward for people in recovery. Located in Hindman, Kentucky, Troublesome Creek is arguably the most well-known face of the Appalachian Artisan Center, an organization that for years has sought to bring economic development to Knott County through the promotion of local artisans and the development of cultural heritage.  Part of what makes their work so remarkable is that they use Knott County’s cultural heritage to address very modern challenges.

A discussion panel featuring experts from the College of Social Work, the College of Fine Arts, the College of Design, and the Gaines Center for the Humanities will follow.

Organized by the University of Kentucky Department of Historic Preservation.
