Guest Lecture Contingent Communities

The UK School of Interiors will host a guest lecture with Igor Siddiqui, associate professor and program director for interior design at The University of Texas at Austin. In his lecture titled “Contingent Communities,” Siddiqui reflects on his experimental practice and the people, places, materials, and ideas that by design become part of it. Siddiqui considers his trajectory through the lens of what Paul Virilio refers to as traceability. From material lifecycles to the French architect Claude Parent’s traveling installations from the 1970s, Siddiqui’s work identifies circulation as a common trace across a diverse body of work—and a convincing conceptual alibi for creative practice.
