Jill Leckner

Senior Lecturer

Jill Leckner is a registered architect in the State of New York and the State of New Jersey and a LEED Accredited Professional Architect. She received her Master of Architecture in 1995 from Columbia University and her Bachelor of Architecture in 1992 from Ball State University. In 2004, she co-founded SLAB architecture with Jeffrey Johnson. As co-principal of SLAB, Leckner has extensive architectural design and construction experience in the New York City area. The office has completed multiple projects ranging from large commercial office renovations to art galleries to music performance venues. In 2014 and 2016, the office received AIA Merit Awards on the Red Bull Studios New York project and Headquarters in collaboration with INABA. In 2015, the office received an AIA Honor Award for the Beijing Horticultural Exposition Masterplan and Pavilions competition in collaboration with Work Architecture Company, SCAPE Landscape Architecture, and Studio Pei Zhu. In 2016, the office received a Municipal Arts Society NYC award for the National Sawdust Performing Arts Music Venue in Williamsburg in collaboration with Bureau V. Leckner recently lectured and taught design studios as a Visiting Critic at Syracuse University School of Architecture in the fall of 2014. She is currently teaching design studios and electives on urbanism at University of Kentucky College of Design with a dual appointment in the School of Architecture and School of Interiors.

Leckner worked for Christian Hubert Studio from 1998 to 1999 as the project architect on the museum wide exhibition ‘The American Century: Art & Culture 1950-2000’ at the Whitney Museum of Art and on the Leo Castelli Gallery. From 2002 until 2006, she worked for Asymptote Architecture during which time she was project architect for several internationally recognized projects including the Alessi Flagship in New York City, the Carlos Miele Flagship in New York City, the 9th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, the Guggenheim Guadalajara Museum Competition and the winning Penang Turf Club Masterplan in Penang, Malaysia.
