The University of Kentucky College of Design welcomes Emily Bergeron, associate professor in the Department of Historic Preservation, as the College’s Associate Dean for Administration (ADA). 

“I’m excited to take on this new role and to learn from and work with colleagues across the College of Design. Faculty advancement is essential to the strength and future of our community, and I hope to be a valuable partner in building and supporting processes that help our faculty thrive,” Bergeron said.

As ADA, Bergeron will work to aid the college in the consistent and fair development and implementation of processes that advance our academic work, faculty careers and planning and assessment processes. Specific areas of responsibility include faculty advancement, Statements of Evidence, Rules of Procedure, College promotion and tenure process oversight and improvement, planning and advocacy for equity in faculty DOE standards and planning and assessment coordination with academic programs including accreditation, program reviews and program student learning outcomes assessment. 

Bergeron began at the College as a visiting lecturer in 2013, becoming an assistant professor in 2017 and an associate professor in 2023. In her time at UK, Bergeron has held a range of service roles at the university, college and departmental levels, providing valuable experience that will inform her work as ADA.  

At the university level, Bergeron served as a member of the Provisional Faculty Senate Executive Committee beginning in summer 2024, while the committee outlined the Faculty Senate’s role in the new shared governance structure and in October 2024, was elected to serve a two-year term on the Faculty Senate once its role was finalized. 

At the College level, Bergeron has served on the College’s Promotion and Tenure Review Committee and College Faculty Council as well as chairs the College’s new Facilities and Technology committee. At the department level, Bergeron has served as director of graduate studies, online program coordinator and faculty liaison for recruitment.  

“Her skills and experiences will make a valuable contribution to our ability to continue working successfully as a college while navigating a changing university environment,” Dean Ned Crankshaw said.
