Visiting Instructor
siebe@bureaubakker.comSiebe Bakker, founder and director of bureaubakker, operates as a catalyst in innovative and collaborative processes. He produces cross-disciplinary exchanges between industries, educational institutes and design practices. These exchanges are focused on the development of creative processes and are based on innovative design approaches, strategic scenario techniques, cross-cultural collaborations and decision-making methods.
Bakker graduated with honors in 1992 from the Technical University of Delft - faculty of architecture, specializing in architectural design and theory. Directly after graduating, an architectural design practice was started that focused on investigating and developing architecture as a process. In 2001, this practice was abandoned to focus full-time on the development and production of formats related to extending the skills of architects, other creatives and related professionals, as well as students.
He has been curator for 4TU.Bouw – an initiative to enhance the inter-university collaboration on educational and research levels. For several years he hosts study abroad projects on scenario planning for the University of Kentucky College of Design. And for more than 20 years he has worked with the European cement and concrete industries in projects connecting designers, students of architecture and structural engineering and the concrete industry. He held and holds various teaching positions at architectural and design institutes including the Technical University Delft, Design Academy Eindhoven and the Academy of Architecture Amsterdam. He has been invited as critic and guest tutor at the Royal College of Art, SCI-Arc, Art Center Los Angeles and the Berlage Institute.
