Studio Intern Position

Benjamin Deaton Interior Design is seeking a studio intern. With our office in Lexington, we are a high-end residential design firm working on projects in Central Kentucky and elsewhere. This is a paid part-time position (15 to 20 hours/week) where you will be focused on assisting the Principal in all facets of the design process. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, professional, and able to work well independently.

Benjamin Deaton Interior Design is are a high-end residential design firm working on projects in Central Kentucky and elsewhere. Located in Lexington, KY we also have a small retail store, Benjamin Deaton Home, on Romany Road.

The internship position is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience with many opportunities to:

• assist with renderings, drawings, orders, and coordination
• assist in sourcing design elements
• assist in client presentations, site visits and installations
• assist in preparation of proposals and estimates
• track and follow up with vendors, workrooms, and fabricators
• assist in maintaining the sample library
• help maintain the website and social media accounts
• help with general office tasks, errands, etc.

Some experience with drafting/technical drawing software would be helpful. You will be expected to “lift and tote” as we have deliveries daily of fabric, furniture, lighting, and the like. The work hours are somewhat flexible, with a pay rate of $12/hour.
