SoA Assistant Professor Brent Sturlaugson will present his ongoing research, “Archive of Lost Mountains,” at the ACSA 109th Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 25.

The project connects the practice of architecture and resource extraction through a series of maps, drawings, and models that document the impacts of mountaintop removal coal mining in Appalachia. Specifically, it recreates the peaks destroyed by mining, and assembles data concerning permit holders, raw material extraction, labor hours worked, and other details.
