SK O’Brien Elected Chair of IDSA Louisville

Product Design assistant professor SK O’Brien has been elected as the new chair of the Louisville (LVL) Chapter of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).

In this role, O’Brien will work to promote the profession of industrial design in Kentucky and provide a forum for students and designers to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and network with other professionals in the field. That includes lectures, studio tours, and collaborations with other professional design organizations.

O’Brien is an experienced artist, designer and professor whose work includes roles as Lead Designer for the Kohler Company and Products Director for 212box in New York City. She believes that this opportunity can help shape the future of industrial design in Kentucky and beyond. “I’m honored to have been elected as the new chair of the IDSA Louisville,” said O’Brien. “Industrial design is a vital part of product development, and I’m excited to work with other designers in our state to promote the field and help contribute to Kentucky’s economic growth.”

IDSA is a professional organization that represents industrial designers across the United States. The organization also encourages a strong partnership between the student chapters and the professional chapter that includes portfolio reviews, career development, and social events.
