With an emphasis on technology, Alvin Huang, AIA – founder of Synthesis Design + Architecture in Los Angeles – will share his practice of computational design at a lecture on Oct. 1, sponsored by the UK School of Architecture. Titled “Technology, Technique, Techné: Creation vs. Contingency,” Huang’s presentation will share insight into digital fabrication in architecture, exposure to alternate forms of design practice and other objectives.
Huang is the founder and design principal of Synthesis Design + Architecture and an associate professor at the USC School of Architecture. He is an award-winning architect, designer, and educator specializing in the integrated application of material performance, emergent design technologies and digital fabrication in contemporary architectural practice. He started Synthesis Design + Architecture in 2011, and was honored as the Young Architect of the Year by the American Institute of Architects California Council in 2016.
Make plans to attend the lecture, which will be held Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. in Pence 209. Those eligible can earn AIA credit for attending.
