Students participating in this internship/externship experience will gain exposure to interior design in professional settings to observe approaches, strategies, and management of the design process. Requirements for participation in this course include completion of a learning contract including internship/externship supervisor and faculty sign-off. This vertical summer studio will examine the perception and dimensions of color with an emphasis on individual experimentation through digital exercises and interior applications. Topics include theoretical investigations of Albers, Itten and Munsell; explorations of artists such as James Turrell, Ellsworth Kelly and Mark Rothko; perception, symbolism, and psychology; pattern-making techniques; and the application of color theories to art, architecture, and interior environments. Student outcomes will combine intense exploration of theories with hands-on experience in a variety of media. Interested students should contact Lindsey Fay for more information.
