“Architecture has been called the art of building beautifully, a fixation of man’s thinking, and record of his activity…keep in mind that last phrase. It is important.”

“Architecture has been called the art of building beautifully, a fixation of man’s thinking, and record of his activity… keep in mind that last phrase. It is important.” – Ernst Johnson, (1911-1972), famed architect and professor of architecture at UK

In 1937, Ernst Johnson was hired to teach architecture at the University of Kentucky, and to design buildings for the expanding campus. This was a monumental moment as Johnson, like so many UK students, came from a modest background and worked his way through school.

To ensure that the next generation of design leaders are given this same opportunity to envision a new landscape, the UK College of Design needs your support to embolden its students to take their part in changing the world. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide vital resources for scholarships, faculty recruitment and retention, and state-of-the-art facilities that are essential to the college’s future.

As Dean Vernon enlists a new strategic plan for the college – from new programs and partners, to a new vision – your support will lay the groundwork for these plans to take root. These gifts allow the Dean to take advantage of new opportunities as they arise.

Give today and be a part of tomorrow’s success.

You can also make checks out to the UK Office of Philanthropy, denoting the UK College of Design in the memo section.
